TIME IN RANK
The ranking procedures now have been changed to suit proper progress in the British Army's structure. Minimum time in rank may be harsh, but it means the rank will be a lot more respectable and earned. This is mainly a guideline set for officers to promote. Note: THE MINIMUM TIME IN RANK DOES NOT GUARENTEE IMMEDIATE PROMOTION, PROMOTIONS ARE TO BE EARNED WITH GOOD WORK & ACTIVITY. Going on Leave will freeze your time in rank, and will not count towards it. In some circumstances, some people will be promoted outside of their time in rank by the CGS/CLF when it is seen as deserved.
If Soldiers apart from the CGS/CLF are promoting outside others Time In Ranks, consequences will occur
Before being promoted, a solider must have held their existing rank for the below time (guideline only):
Private (Pte) > None
Private Proficient (Pte2) > 4 days
Lance Corporal (LCpl) > 4 days
Corporal (Cpl) > 4 days
Sergeant (Sgt) 5 days
Staff Sergeant (SSgt) > 5 days
Colour Sergeant (CSgt) > 10 days
Sergeant Major (SgtMaj) > 15
Warrant Officer Class Two (WO2) > 20 days
Warrant Officer Class Two - Sergeant Major (WO2-SM) > 25 days
Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) > 25 days
Warrant Officer Class One - Sergeant Major (WO1-SM) > 25 days
Officer Cadet (OCdt) > Completion of RMAS (DONE BY RMAP, PART OF FDT)
Second Lieutenant (2Lt) > 60 days
Lieutenant (Lt) > 70 days
Captain (Capt) > 80 days
Major (Maj) > 90 days
Lieutenant Colonel > 100 days
Colonel > 120 days
Brigadier > 140 days
Major General > 120 days
Lieutenant General > N/A
General > N/A
PROMOTION SCALE
1. The following scale shows the promotion and/or demotion authority of Commissioned Officers. No officer may promote or demote beyond their stated authority.
